Water Bottles
All athletes should bring water bottles labeled with their name. Athletes should bring their water bottles to warm-ups with them. There are water refill stations near the restrooms just east of the warm up area.Division Combinations
In the interest of providing more flexibility, depth in divisions and creating competition, divisions may be combined and are determined on an event by event basis.
Divisions split out by co-ed and all girl may be combined. Senior Co-Ed teams will be judged on the co-ed rubric for any combined divisions.
Other possible combinations may include (but not limited to): U17 and Junior - U19 and Senior - Youth-Junior - Mini-Youth, Prep 1 & 2 etc. In all instances, the goal is to create competition for our participating teams, with close/similar ages. Scoring rubric will always be based on your team’s declared level.
All-Star Rec or NA teams will be combined with Prep or Elite teams if there are fewer than 3 teams in either age/level category and varies based on event registration.
Generally speaking, teams that normally compete as Elite may not compete in stand-alone Competitive Rec divisions but will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
At select events: Teams that are in “Excel eligible “ divisions will be emailed with details. Excel tumbling passes are optional and do not increase difficulty score. Teams in “excel “ categories are in BLENDED LEVEL divisions and will compete together.
For any division combinations and teams participating in rankings for The Open Championship Series- the division in which you registered will be used for reporting.
Competitive Rec/Performance Cheer/Non-Affiliated Rec DivisionsWe recognize that different rec/independent programs may have their teams structured under varying divisions and organizations. In order to streamline the varying divisions that exist and in support of the programs who have built their teams around varying age parameters, we will be offering blended divisions. While our standard divisions follow the Open Championship series, teams may register with the corresponding age level. For instance YCADA 15u would be equivalent to our Junior age division. Please note that if you plan to compete at end-of-season OCS competitions, their set age divisions and program definition would apply and all team members ages must fit within those parameters. Competitive Rec / NA teams are eligible for bids to Prep & Rec Grand Nationals in Orlando
Solos/Stunt Groups
Please click here for information on specialty divisions, solos, stunt group, etc. Not offered at all events. Please email for info. Solos/Duos/Trios will be combined and competitors will be scored based on difficulty by their respective registered level. If there are different levels within a group, please note that the entire group is the CATEGORY they are competing in and will not be further split.
AwardsPlease make note of the divisions for each Awards ceremony. Your team may be in a later Awards ceremony depending on your division.
There are generally 2 awards sessions at each event.
Specialty Awards will be announced in the final awards ceremony.
Single Team Division winners (those with only 1 team in a division) may be recognized/receive their awards immediately after they compete. These teams are eligible for Division Champion awards.
Division Champions (level) are awarded based on a combination of final score, deductions, technique scores and judges selection for best in show for that level. Division Champions may not necessarily be the highest scoring team in that level. Please be sure to convey this to your athletes and families. Example: a Youth 2 team wins their division. Senior 2 team is highest percent perfection for all levels and receives the Event Champion award. The Youth 2 team MAY be selected as the Division/Level Champion for L2.
Division Champions are generally only awarded if there are at least 10 teams in that level. Levels will be combined for a blended level division champion.
Event Champion is the highest scoring elite cheer team in full category divisions (building, tumbling, jumps, routine mastery) in: All-Star Elite/Intl (and competitive rec if combined divisions)
Select events only : Program Champions : eligibility requirements may fluctuate from event to event. Level or Event Champions are excluding from winning Program Champ award unless 1) program is a single team entry or 2) next highest score from that program is not within the top 10% of teams
Awards format may change, please check your emails for updates.

DIFFICULTY AND LEGALITY CHALLENGES
Teams are required to record and save ipad or tablet video performances of their routines. Please designate a coach or parent to take video of your team's performance. Please do not obstruct the judges view.
Should there be a challenge on a legality official’s call, upon request if needed, it is the responsibility of your program to provide video documentation to support your safety/legality challenge.
If you have any videos that have been sent into the Open Championship Series and ruled as LEGAL, please provide your proof of clearance of the skill in question to us at least 48 hours in advance. Also, if you have any skills that have been warned or noted as questionable, please provide these in advance as well. We do not do rulings, consultations, reviews or determinations in the warm up room or the day of the competition. Please have any and all questions submitted through the proper channels.
Routine deductions will not be reviewed unless in the case of a tie where the standard tiebreak procedure does not break the tie. Tiebreak is deductions then stunt technique and tumbling technique average then building mastery.
We do not release information on other deductions or scores nor can we discuss another team’s scores.
SCORESHEETS
We suggest having a designated scoresheet helper that can pick up scoresheets from COACHES’ CHECK IN. Please have staff listening out for these announcements. Dance Teams at Red Carpet Classic Cali - all scoresheets will be EMAILED TO YOU during the event.
Any score adjustments that do not impact placement or eligibility for score-based awards will be reviewed AFTER the event.
For 2-Day events only : Day 1 challenges will be reviewed after all teams have competed. Day 1 rankings will be sent late Saturday evening or early Sunday morning depending on scores that need to be reviewed.
Upon Request: teams will need to provide high resolution video (just the section or specific deduction) to support your challenge.
Coaches understand and agree that score review/challenges re: legality, falls, bobbles etc will be subject to full routine review. If Score Review judge determines that there are additional deductions that may have been overlooked, these will be added to the final deductions calculations for that routine.
After a challenge has been reviewed, please note that determinations are final and not subject to additional review.
Please remember that judges are switching between levels, rubrics and multiple scoring grids for the entire event. We ask for understanding if there are any discrepancies that you need to bring to our attention.
Difficulty Declaration forms are required for all prep/elite/intl cheer teams. Any programs that have not completed these forms will not be permitted to challenge difficulty scores.
